The iconic band has been hinting at their new album for a while. The Rolling Stones will release their new studio album, Hackney Diamonds on October 20th. It’s the first album of original songs from the band in 18 years, and their 24th studio album.
The first track on the album is titled, “Angry,” which you can listen to now. You can also watch the music video below, which features actress Sydney Sweeney.
“We did it pretty quick, actually,” said Ronnie Wood during a live conversation with Jimmy Fallon about the new album. “There were lots of ideas floating about, and we gathered them all together just before Christmas last year, and made a go of it.”
Fallon noted how much time has passed since their last album, to which Mick Jagger joked, “We’ve been very lazy.”
He went on to explain that while the group has been busy, mostly being on the road, they finally decided they should give themselves a deadline in order to create a new album. Ultimately, they wound up with enough for two albums.
Hackney Diamonds includes one track with Bill Wyman, the former bassist of The Rolling Stones. The album also features the last recordings with the late drummer Charlie Watts, who makes appearances on two tracks. Those tracks were recorded in 2019.
Those won’t be the only special guests on this album. Lady Gaga sings on the track, “Sweet Sound of Heaven,” a performance that Ronnie Wood praised.
