5 Movies Premiering in March that You Should Watch

Spend your spring break vacay at the movies with this month’s fantasy filled lineup of films.

March’s movie premieres include the highly anticipated sequel in Timothee Chalamet’s sci-fi blockbuster Dune with a star-studded cast that includes Zendaya and Florence Pugh. Additionally, we have an LGBTQ+ romance thriller from A24 starring Kristen Stewart to look forward to and a light-hearted fantasy film featuring a secret society of Black magicians.

In order of premiere date, here are 5 new and upcoming movie releases we are looking forward to watching this March: 

1. Dune: Part Two — In Theaters, March 1

Dune, the Timothee Chalamet-led sci-fi fantasy blockbuster, returns with its star-studded next installment.

Dune: Part Two witnesses Zendaya’s Chani take on a larger role as the Fremen team up with Paul to wage a revenge-driven war on everyone that sought to destroy his family. However, with a budding romance and the looming fate of the universe to fight for, the stakes to prevent the devastating future only he can see are much higher.

Film Synopsis: Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

2. Love Lies Bleeding — In Theaters, March 8

Kristen Stewart and Katy M. O’Brian star in this A24 romance that turns dark when gym manager Lou’s criminal family comes back into the picture. As Jackie pursues her dream of becoming a professional bodybuilder, Lou fights for a future where they can stay together.

Film Synopsis: Reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.

3. The American Society of Magical Negroes — In Theaters, March 15

The American Society of Magical Negroes is a fantasy comedy that follows Aren (Justice Smith), a man recruited into a secret society for Black people who possess magical powers. However, there is an unfortunate catch, they have dedicated their lives to making white people’s lives easier to protect minority groups.

When Aren falls for the woman at the center of his assignment, he has to make a choice between the society’s magical perks and young love.

Film Synopsis: The American Society of Magical Negroes is a fresh, satirical comedy about a young man, Aren, who is recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who dedicate their lives to a cause of utmost importance: making white people’s lives easier.

4. French Girl — Theaters, March 15

French Girl is a Canadian rom-com that follows a complicated trio of romantic partners.

Gordan, played by Zac Braff, plans to propose to his girlfriend when suddenly she relocates to Canada for a restaurant job with her ex-girlfriend, Ruby (Vanessa Hudgens). He soon finds himself competing for the approval of his girlfriend’s French-speaking family and her attention as Ruby upstages him at every turn.

Film Synopsis: Gordon is a hopeless romantic whose proposal plans are put in jeopardy when his girlfriend gets swept away to Canada by a job offer from her ex. Determined to keep their love alive, he leaves Brooklyn, N.Y., for her hometown, only to find himself out of his depth while trying to charm her hard-to-impress, French-speaking family.

5. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire — Theaters, March 22

The original Ghostbusters return for the latest franchise sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. A follow-up to the 2021 film that introduced us to the next generation of young ghost hunters.

This time around, the Spengler family is visiting the iconic firehouse in New York City for a team up with the original busters. When an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force on the city, Ghostbusters from multiple generations will join together to save the world from freezing over.

Film Synopsis: In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
