2025 hasn’t even begun and it may already be my favorite year for books. So many authors I love are releasing new ones next year. This means that even narrowing this list down to simply five is a struggle, but a good problem to have.
2025 marks the return of popular authors such as Taylor Jenkins Reid and Suzanne Collins. Book fans will have plenty to read about in the upcoming year. They’ll be grand adventures, shocking thrillers, and a few cozy books to keep you warm all winter.
And for non-book fans, this might be the perfect year to pick up the hobby. There are too many great books to not start reading. Here are a few to keep on your radar in 2025.
Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Jenkins Reid is a skilled storyteller who can suck readers into these glamorous worlds and undercover the human living amongst the glory. She did this in Daisy Jones and the Six, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Malibu Rising, and Carrie Soto is Back. With Atmosphere, Jenkins steps into the world of NASA and space travel. We can’t wait to experience this exciting journey of love, adventure, and space.
Fable For The End Of The World by Ava Reid
Reid returns to the YA space in Fable for the End of the World, a sapphic love story about two girls who meet and start to fall in love while fighting for their survival. It has a found love in a hopeless place vibe, while also making us draw comparisons to Hunger Games. This potentially brutal and riveting love story may be the ideal read for spring. We also love that it’s a queer love story.
Sunrise on The Reaping by Suzanne Collins
Hunger Games fans have begged Suzanne Collins to write Haymitch’s Hunger Games story and their wish has finally been granted. With the success of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it’s not surprising that we’re returning to this world in such an exciting and anticipated way. We’re in for an emotional ride that we can’t wait to experience.
Katabasis by R.F. Kuang
R. F. Kuang is a master at taking on different genres. She’s a writing wizard who succeeds at making every book feel different and unique from the last.
They all feel like her specialty. So we’re more than excited to see how she handles a romance story. Katabasis follows two academic rivals who travel to hell together and start to fall in love. That’s one hell of a premise and we’re burning to read all about it.
A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna
A Very Secret Society Of Irregular Witches isthe perfect cozy romantic-found family story. Now Sangu Mandanna returns to the world of cozy fiction with another witch story. Sera Swan runs an inn but longs to restore her magic. A new visitor may be just the key to regaining her powers. Witches, love, and some warm light fiction, sign us up.
