During Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights, she announced her next album, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT.
Throughout the day, Taylor left easter eggs that kept Swifties theorizing about what she could announce tonight during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
First was Taylor changing the profile picture on her Instagram and X profiles to black and white, and then her site seemingly went down, leaving a cryptic code for Swifties to decode.
Numerous theories kept Swifties on the edge of their seats all day, and we were still delighted and surprised by Taylor’s acceptance speech.
“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I ever told you that. I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.”
“So, I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It’s called THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. I’m going to go and post the cover of it right now backstage. Thank you, I love you! Thank you!”
After her acceptance speech, Taylor shared the album cover on her social media profiles.
The second photo on her Instagram post reads, “And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch blank ink. All’s fair in love and poetry … / Sincerely, The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department.”
THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT, Taylor’s eleventh studio album, is now available for pre-order on TaylorSwift.com and comes out on April 19.
