The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 6 Recap: Reverse Mom-Shaming?

The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 6

The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 6 emphasizes mom-shaming and “reverse mom-shaming,” if that’s a thing.

Comfortable with the life and routine she shares with her two kids, True and Tatum, Khloé Kardashian rarely wants to leave Hidden Hills. When she does, she likes to check in on her kids via FaceTime — something Kim Kardashian seemingly has a major problem, or “stick up her a**,” regarding.

All of that comes to the surface while in Aspen, but a lot happens before the Kardashians get to Colorado.

Wanting to clear the air before their big family trip to Aspen minus the kids (because that makes sense?), Kim sits down with Khloé and admits she has a “bone to pick” about her sister’s tone. While Kris Jenner was watching Kim’s youngest two children, Khloé was asked to help prepare them for school. That’s when she noticed an allegedly abhorrent amount of gel in Chicago West’s hair.

Not wanting to offend her sister, Khloé called Kim to ask if she could do Chi’s hair. Offend she did indeed.

As Kim explains to Koko in the episode, sometimes her “tone can be off.” In reality, Khloé thinks Kim is projecting her anger about other things. This is the catalyst that brings Kim to explode about Khloé’s lack of socialization and obsession with her routine.

In one of her talking head interviews, Khloé simply admits she’s in her “Mommy Era” — something a lot of women, including myself, can understand! Since Kim’s kids are older, I can see how she might forget about the routine little ones like True and Tatum crave.

More importantly, Khloé is happy with where her life is right now! Kim’s inability to accept that leads to an even more intense conversation in Aspen about mom-shaming and the reverse Kim seems to be doing, but not before Khloé clarifies to Kim: “You’re comparing me to Brandon Fraser (it’s Brendan, Koko) in The Whale?”

Certainly, Khloé’s life is much different than the English teacher dying of congestive heart failure.

What bothers me most about this disagreement between the sisters is Khloé gets the worst of it, others like Kylie Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian Barker act in similar ways. Kylie straight up leaves the “PJ” (shout out to Lala Kent) because she has a bad feeling about the journey and would rather be home with her kids.

Meanwhile, Kourtney talks about staying home for 40 days after giving birth to her and Travis Barker’s son Rock on The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 5. She’s more concerned about preventing vaginal prolapse (valid) and not going Aspen — she might not even go to the iconic Kardashian Christmas Eve party (spoiler, she does end up going).

On the contrary, Kim isn’t badgering these moms in the family. She’s laser-focused on Khloé, who she wants to meet a man and live her life. After all, the world is at her fingertips! I guess in the past, Kourtney has received enough of Kim’s rage. And, while she talks about Kylie behind her back, Kim doesn’t confront the makeup mogul like she does Koko.

Elsewhere in her blissful baby bubble, when she isn’t talking about all of the upcoming plans she likely won’t attend, Kourtney shows off her post-baby body. Sure, she can’t breathe in all of the shapewear she has on, but this is a moment of profound vulnerability for the Kardashian.

Instead of being worried about dropping pounds and shooting magazine covers, Kourtney is focused on a slow recovery — something most, if not all, women can relate to.

This time, she’s all about nourishing and maintaining her milk supply. So, she’s wearing a baggy suit to the Emmys. #Goals.
