Kris Jenner is recovering and surrounded by family when The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 9, “Second Chances” opens.
Naturally, the conversation turns to martinis, Kris and Corey Gambles paused sex life, and the Bible… somehow.
Elsewhere, Kim Kardashian is getting her two broken fingers checked on, and an injury caused by a door shoved open by her child, who happened to be eating chips at 8 p.m. I blame the bag of chips.
After Kim is assured she won’t have to have anything amputated, she and Khloé Kardashian dissect when Kim becomes such a calm person. She handled two broken fingers like a champ!
All through childhood, Khloé describes Kim as the opposite of calm. But the Paris robbery where Kim was held at gunpoint changed her life forever.
Kim also admits Kourtney Kardashian Barker was right — gasp! — when they had that conversation last season regarding Kim’s “Why.” In Kourtney’s opinion, Kim worked for the sake of working or to stay busy. Kim realizes that in this Season 9 episode.
She works so hard to “avoid dealing.” #CanRelate. So, she started therapy and is now petitioning to get Khloé to give it a try, too.
Halfway across the world, the Barkers are in Sydney, Australia, a place where the spiders are ten times bigger than anywhere else on Earth. Kourtney is minus one child — Mason wanted to stay back with Scott Disick — but she’s still trying to embrace this new experience with her kids, despite the hounding of the paparazzi.
Back in California, Khloé shares a meal with Malika Haqq. Earlier in the season, Malika considered working with a sperm bank to have another child. Now, she’s changing her mind. Instead, she wants to date, which thrills Khloé to no end. Does this mean Khloé might consider dating soon, too?!
“I want to go to dinner — not dinners,” Khloé tells the cameras. Those could lead to dating, according to the reality star.
Back in Sydney, Reign Disick proves he’s ready to embrace the reality TV star life when he addresses the cameras directly and tells his mom and Travis to “stop making out, didn’t you already have a baby?!” 10/10, Reign.
Later, they meet Mark Hoppus and his wife Skye for lunch on a yacht, which makes sense because privacy is minimal in Australia for the famous family.
The day turns out to be beautiful for more than just the Barker-Kardashian crew, but it’s even more beautiful for the fans who greet Travis. He orchestrates free tickets to the Blink-182 concert, as long as their parents are cool with it (I hope they were).
Then, Kim and Khloé visit the most humane prison in California with Kim’s prison reform buddy, Scott Budnick. Armed with the knowledge these prisoners feel “human, normal” when she visits, Kim practically runs into the crowd to say hello.
The sisters tour the prison and meet inmates who rehabilitate rescue dogs and another who makes unbelievable art from paper pieces. Before leaving, Kim and Khloé sit with some inmates to hear their stories.
They do the same with the women who are incarcerated across the way. Most of them were told they did not deserve a second chance. In her one-on-one interview, Kim reminds viewers everyone deserves the episode’s namesake.
