The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 5 Recap: Baby Rocky

THE KARDASHIANS - “Baby Rocky

The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 5, “Baby Rocky,” should be all about the birth of Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Travis Barker’s son.

However, there’s more of an emphasis on Kim Kardashian’s foray into film production, Kylie Jenner’s mental health, and Khloé Kardashian’s realization that she doesn’t, in fact, want a baby goat.

The episode opens with the Balenciaga fashion show at Windsor Boulevard and Hancock in Los Angeles. Kim’s excited to be there because every Balenciaga show is “such a moment,” but she doesn’t hang around for long afterward. She has five studio pitches to prepare for!

Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner and her sister prepare to epically fail at pranking their mom. Not only did I want to see Bridget shaved in a traditional poodle style, I wanted to see Kris Jenner’s PG reaction — even her kids knew she’d only truly freak out when the cameras weren’t around.

But Bridget, under Corey Gamble’s ever-watchful eye, already had a trim. So, Kendall and Kylie give up. Instead, we discover Kylie hiccups like a mouse and, like any human being, has feelings. She’s tired of the way the internet dehumanizes her and her family and solely talks about her appearance.

Fortunately, she has sister Kendall to comfort her and remind her ignoring the comments is the best-case scenario for someone of her social stature.

Later, we see Kim riding around town, pitching her comedy, The Fifth Wheel. On top of working with some all-star writers in the industry, she’s Kim Kardashian. This movie is absolutely going to get picked up and break records.

When all of her pitches are said and done, Kim has dinner with “The Lifers” — her lifelong friends — and shares the big news about her latest project. She also admits she might need readers, further proving the Kardashians are just like us!

Elsewhere, Khloé and bestie Malika Haqq visit a farm to size up a baby goat. Malika decided against the whole sperm donor route, but that doesn’t mean she can’t help Khloé shop for a potential new pet.

That dream is short-lived when Khloé realizes these animals defecate wherever they want to, as most animals do. But her visit to the farm isn’t all for naught. She greets a bunch of kids who can’t be more than ten years old, but they know who she is, aside from one little girl who says, “Who are you?”

Finally, in the last ten minutes of the episode, we get to see the Barkers, who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their son.

Kourtney and Travis go into the hospital on October 30, but Baby Barker simply isn’t ready. They go home, but not before stopping at Crossroads for a bite to eat. Then, they shower and have sex in an attempt to get things moving.

That seems to work, so they head back to the hospital on Halloween, but Baby Rocky still isn’t ready.

He leaves enough time for Lovey Kris to arrive at the hospital, which wasn’t part of Kourtney’s birth plan, but she allows it. Travis says if his mom were still alive, she would be there at the birth.

So, Kourtney, Travis, and Kris welcome Rocky Thirteen Barker (are we putting numbers in our kid’s names now?) into the world at midnight on November 1 as Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” plays, a poignant blend of joy and reflection as the Barker’s begin their next chapter.
