96th Academy Awards: Winners Include Oppenheimer, Poor Things, and The Zone of Interest

The Academy Awards, or Oscars, is always a night filled with glamor, inspiration, and moments that remind us why we love the movie industry so much. We get to see newcomers and veterans of the craft win their first awards, and our favorite films are recognized for how they made us feel.

This year, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the jokes were aplenty as some of the winners made a joke about acknowledging their agent or their publicist (regardless of being told not to). Even the presenters had a fun time with their jobs by making jokes about themselves, roles they’ve played, or the industry in general.

One of the highlights this year was having 5 previous winners of each of the acting categories present each of this year’s nominees. It gave a bit of a personal touch to the top categories of the evening, plus it was great to see the past winners back on stage cheering on a new generation of winners.

Of course, like every year, there were some films that won multiple accolades, such as Oppenheimer and Poor Things, while some walked away with no awards at all, despite many nominations, such as Killers of the Flower Moon and Maestro. All in all, though, the 96th Annual Academy Awards was a night to remember filled with love, passion, and gratitude.

Who didn’t cry alongside Da’Vine Joy Randolph when she started off the night with her first win for The Holdovers? Did we not all get out of our seats and dance to Ryan Gosling’s fun performance of “I’m Just Ken?”
