The sci-fi adventure came out on top in our poll, beating out a variety of movies that have already given audiences plenty to talk about this year.

Based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel of the same name, Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), an astronaut who wakes up alone on a spacecraft with no memory of how he got there or why he’s been sent on a seemingly impossible mission to save humanity.
Coming in as the runner-up was Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The latest chapter in the Spider-Man franchise was another clear favorite among voters, proving that audiences are still eager to see what comes next for Peter Parker.
Of course, there’s still plenty of 2026 left, which means the list of best movies of 2026 could look very different by the end of the year.
