Fans have been hungry for more of The Promised Land, a Bible-based mockumentary, ever since the pilot episode debuted in July 2024, which has now amassed more than 1 million views on YouTube.
After weeks of social media teasers keeping fans guessing, premiere dates have finally been released for the first season of the highly anticipated comedy series.
It was announced this week that the first season, consisting of the pilot and five new episodes, will be released on YouTube beginning October 1, 2025, with new episodes dropping weekly until October 29. Episode names have been listed online, although no descriptions are available just yet: “Sinai,” “Pitfalls,” “Offering,” “Bones,” and “Presence.”
From the trailer, it looks like we’ll really be digging into the workplace aspect of this mockumentary, with Moses and his brother Aaron trying to deal with the complaints of the Israelites.
Will we get to the legendary Ten Commandments this season? It’s likely, though it’s not clear how much of the book of Exodus Season 1 will cover; the pilot episode draws inspiration directly from Exodus 18, and the Ten Commandments are delivered to Moses in chapter 20.
Throughout Exodus, God also gives Moses many, many other laws and commands as well, and the teaser trailer appears to have Moses and the Israelites trying to write them all down and memorize them. It gives a humorous — and human — touch to these stories of the Bible.
The first look at Season 1 is now available in a teaser trailer on YouTube:
The central tension or conflict of this season very well could be the story of the golden calf, from Exodus 32. Without giving too much away, things do not go so well for the misbehaving Hebrews while Moses is away on Mount Sinai.
How will this show handle the more delicate religious stories while still presenting them in a humorous way? We’re excited to find out.
The first poster for Season 1 also dropped this week, with the tagline “Crossing the Red Sea was the easy part.”
The fan-favorite character Chisisi, the Egyptian soldier who ended up on the wrong side of the Red Sea, is happy that no one has yet discovered his true identity, but clearly, the cranky Korah is still suspicious. This is one element that promises to be the funniest of the entire season.
Moses’ family will still be in the spotlight as well, with his brother Aaron gaining an important new title, and glimpses of his sister Miriam and wife Zipporah can be seen in the teaser trailer. The series will hopefully showcase the growing friendship between the two women, who have a grumpy/sunshine dynamic.

The central cast of characters is prominent on the poster, which perfectly demonstrates Moses somewhat reluctantly accepting his fate of being in charge of the welfare, both spiritual and physical, of the Hebrew people. Everyone relies on him, but he’s not without help, as the young Joshua will do his best to assist Moses.
From writer and director Mitch Hudson and producer Richie Johns, The Promised Land stars Wasim No’mani as Moses and Shereen Khan as Miriam, both of whom appeared in another biblical TV series, The Chosen.
Hudson is another alum of The Chosen, having worked as assistant director on that series. The Promised Land also stars Majed Sayess, Tryphena Wade, Dav Coretti, Artoun Nazareth, and Brad Culver.
The series promises to capture the humanity, humor, and awkward realities of Moses’ story, with the goal of showing these biblical characters are just like us. Follow along on social media channels @thepromisedlandseries, with short videos and other content posted nearly every day.
