The Kardashians Season 5 Episode 8, “This Is My Most Important Job,” opens with Kris Jenner’s pre-op exam. Last week, Kris shared she had to have her ovaries removed — an emotional moment for the mother of six.
But she’s under the best care with Dr. Boris and Dr. A, the Kardashian family doctor (is she accepting new patients? Asking for a friend).
Elsewhere, Kourtney Kardashian Barker is gearing up for Australia and the Blink-182 tour. She’s questioning whether it’s too soon to travel with a newborn, but she wants to keep the family together and embrace this short but sweet time with Baby Rocky.
Later, at the Hulu Kardashian photo shoot, which is what they used to promote this season and the footage used in the intro of the show. Because this season’s shoot is set in a desert, the family talks about who is most and least likely to survive.
Khloé Kardashian is the obvious choice for making it out alive (let’s be honest, it was never going to be Kendall Jenner, who can barely cut a cucumber). Kris, who once booked a hotel for what was supposed to be a camping trip, is least likely to make it out of this scenario.
Also at this shoot, Kim Kardashian admits she is seeing a therapist and setting stronger boundaries with her kids — her “most important job.” Khloé, the queen of boundaries, applauds her sister and welcomes her into the life of routine.
Before the big surgery day, Khloé and Kim have a little celebration with flowers and cake. Kris reminisces about the “delicious time” she had been pregnant.
Naturally, we’re put back on the conversation about how Kris had all of Khloé’s eggs and, therefore, all of True’s eggs when she was pregnant. Kris calls Kendall for clarification, but Kim means business and gets Dr. A on the phone, who disproves Kris’s theory.
Just when it seems the night is ending, Kourtney shows up for the ovary cake and admits she’s anxious about going on tour with Travis and the baby. And after a season of feuding, we learn Kim and Kourtney are always going to be there for each other, whether it’s to talk through those anxious moments, help with the kids, or everything in between.
Later in the episode, Kris goes shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue with besties Kathy Hilton and Fay Resnick. Of course, the experience is complete with a personal shopper and cocktails.
She also shares the news about her hysterectomy. Like any good besties, they assure Kris it’ll be fine in a heartfelt moment any woman would expect of her friends.
Then, Khloé pays a visit to Fablectics to talk about her authentic partnership with the fitness brand. She talks about her workout routine and the kinds of workouts she does, but what really resonates is her admitting it’s about a lifestyle change: healthy eating, movement, and good lifestyle choices.
In the past, Khloé says she would try any kind of quick solution to weight loss, but she knows now what really works — change.
The episode closes with the woman who has been in every headline lately: Gypsy Rose Blanchard. She wants to join forces with Kim, the face of prison reform, and help youth and abuse victims. The two share an emotional chat and make a plan to forge a new future for people like Gypsy.
