Story and Setting
Starring Jessie Buckley as the Bride and Christian Bale as Victor Frankenstein, the film’s official synopsis is “a lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to seek the aid of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman, and the Bride is born.”

Cast and Characters
Also starring in the gothic horror are Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Penélope Cruz. Jake Gyllenhaal returns to collaborate with his sister as well.

Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, with a screenplay by Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Bride! is produced by First Love Films and Warner Bros. The Bride! will be Maggie Gyllenhaal’s second time directing, following The Lost Daughter (2021).

What to Expect:
John Magaro, who also stars in The Bride!, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that The Bride! is “a mix of… Young Frankenstein, Frankenstein, Bonnie and Clyde and Badlands. It’s just a wild, fun ride. It’s something that people haven’t seen before, and I’m really excited to get it in front of an audience. It’s bonkers.”
While the wait is long for The Bride! it seems promising that it will deliver unforgettable performances from Buckley and Bale, as well as rich storytelling.
