A seemingly nice vacation isn’t what is in store for a couple on the verge of breaking up on Over Your Dead Body. In fact, it’s much worse than what they were expecting.
Independent Film Company released the red band trailer for Over Your Dead Body, which releases in theaters nationwide on April 24. The film previously made its debut at SXSW 2026, where it won the Audience Award.
Although the first trailer gave viewers a glimpse into the miserable lives of Samara Weaving and Jason Segel’s characters, this second trailer unravels everything.
The red band trailer continues to show Segel’s Dan and Weaving’s Lisa constantly at each other’s throats. However, their annoyance towards each other leads both of them to try to kill each other.
This back and forth between Dan and Lisa continues to ensue, from Dan trying to use chloroform and Lisa taping up Dan in a chair. Unfortunately for both of them, a group of criminals finds them and tries to torture the two of them themselves.
Dan and Lisa’s “vacation” gradually turns into a chaotic fight for their lives as the two continue to go at each other’s throats. From dirty sexual roughhousing to over-the-top wall crashes and highway lightshows, there’s so much the couple must do to survive.
However, Over Your Dead Body also plans to explore what it means to reconnect in a relationship. Although it looks like Dan and Lisa are in a bloody free-for-all, the synopsis teases that they have to “figure out if they want to save their marriage or survive it.”
Over Your Dead Body stars Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come‘s Samara Weaving and Shrinking‘s Jason Segel. In addition to Weaving and Segel, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keith Jardine also star.
The action-comedy film is directed by Jorma Taccone and written by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney.
